The Government of India has declared it the highest Shivling in Asia. There are a lot of Shivling installed around this main Shivling. According to the devotion and devotion of the devotees in this temple, Shivling ranging from 1 to 3 feet is installed here in its name.
108 feet Shivalinga established here in 1994
The temple was built by Swami Sambha Shiva Murthy and his wife V Rukmini in 1980. The first Shivling was established here this year. Panchalings were established in the early days, then 101 Shivling and then 1001 Shivling. A record 108 feet Shivalinga was established in 1994 in this complex. Along with this, a huge and tall Nandi has also been installed in the temple premises. Swamiji’s dream was to establish a koti (crore) linga in the temple and he was working on it. After Swamiji’s demise on December 14, 2018, his daughter and son took over the responsibility and started fulfilling his father’s dream. Since then many lingas have existed in the temple.
Devraj Indra had established
It is believed that by worshiping in this temple, all the sins of humans are washed away. There is also a belief that when Lord Indra was cursed by a sage named Gautama. So to get rid of this curse, he installed the Shivalinga in the Kotilingeshwar temple. It is said that in order to get rid of the curse, Devraj Indra had anointed Shivalinga.
11 temples of other deities also exist
In addition to the main temple of Kotilingeshwar, there are 11 temples in this entire temple complex, in which the temples of Brahma, Vishnu, Annapurneshwari Devi, Venkataramani Swamy, Panduranga Swami, Panchmukh Ganapati, Ram-Lakshmana-Sita are mainly seated.
Nandi’s huge form
In front of this huge Shivling, Nandi is seen in a grand and huge form. This statue of Nandi is 35 feet high, 60 feet long, 40 feet wide, which is installed on a platform 4 feet high and 40 feet wide. The statues of Goddess Maa, Shri Ganesh, Sri Kumaraswamy and Nandi Maharaj are installed around this huge Shivalinga as if they are offering their worship to their adorable.
