Sri Krishna told Yudhishthira about this Ekadashi fast that Mahizmati’s King Mahijit was devoid of sons in Dwapar Yuga. When the king’s well-wishers told this to Mahamuni Lomesh, they told that Rajan was a Vaishya in his former life. On the day of this Ekadashi, when they reached a reservoir in the afternoon, when they saw a thirsty cow suffering from heat drinking water there, they stopped it and started drinking water themselves. Today one child is devoid of that one sin. Mahamuni told that if all the well-wishers of the king duly fast on the Ekadashi date of Shravan Shukla Paksha and give his virtue to the king, then surely they will get children. As per the instructions of the Muni, along with the king, the subjects also kept this fast, after some time the queen gave birth to a son.
