INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Lamar Jackson opened the tempo in the second half on Sunday and then backed up to set a breaking record.
After Gus Edwards’ 1-yard plunge gave Baltimore the lead midway through the third quarter, Jackson won 24–10 with a 9–10 TD run over Indianapolis, leading the Ravens to a 20-point game in a row. Gave NFL Record.
The Ravens (6-2) have done it 31 times – breaking a tie with Denver, which set the mark from 2012–14.
Baltimore has won 10 straight road games, the league’s longest active streak, and won the franchise’s first win in Indianapolis in seven attempts. Trailing at halftime, the Ravens also lost 20 straight games.
It was the first home loss to Indy (5-3) this season.
And, not surprisingly, the league’s governing MVP changed the game, this time against the Sting Colts defense, starting the second half with a no-huddle.
At one time, the Ravens offense, which sprung up in the first half, had run 32 plays compared to four for Indy. When Edwards gave up 5:43 in the third, Baltimore led 14–10. Jackson sealed it with a stunning fake that allowed him to jog to the left for the opening nine-mile TD milestone of the fourth side.
Baltimore’s defense also did its usual part, taking its streak of consecutive games to 21. He finished with two and Baltimore converted both in touchdowns.
Jonathan Taylor gave Indy a 7–0 lead with an early scoring jump. But when Marcus Peters snatched the ball from Taylor’s hands and Chuck Clarke snatched it and sent it back to tie it at 7 for 65 yards, interrupting Phillip River.
Indy took a 10-7 lead on a 43-yard field goal from Rodrigo Blenkship.
Rance: They were already involved in three key players – Ronnie Stanley, cornerback Marlon Humphrey and linebacker LJ Forte. Defensive end Kallis Campbell was off the field in the third game of the game with a left calf injury. He did not return. Cornerback Khalil Dorsey also injured his shoulder in the first half.
Colts: Four-time Pro Bowl receiver TI Hilton was inactive due to a groin injury that won him the previous week in Detroit. Pro Bowl Tight and Jack Doyle left with Bronze late in the first half. Linebackers Darius Leonard and Anthony Walker were also injured in the second half. Leonard later returned.
Revance: Jackson was 19 of 23 for 170 yards and ran 13 times for 58 yards. … Baltimore ran 38 times for 110 yards as a team, their 31st consecutive game with a mark of 100 yards. A tie with Carolina broke for the third longest streak since the 1970 merger.
Colts: Phillip Rivers was 25 of 43 with 227 yards and an interception, 4 yards short of Hall of Famer Dan Merino’s fifth on the NFL’s career passing list. … Jordan Wilkins did it 11 times for 39 yards, leading the Colts’ ground game to 112 yards.
Ravens: Go to New England next Sunday.
Colts: Will play for the AFC South lead on Thursday night in Tennessee.
