New York (AP) – A New York A department official said a city police officer shot and killed a woman and a dancing man who attacked the dog and reached authorities on Tuesday.
The shooting was the second police shooting in the Borough of Brooklyn’s Brovesville neighborhood after a man was shot in the leg and injured in a man in central Brooklyn on Monday.
NYPD’s chief of detectives Junita Holmes said officers responded to several 911 calls about a person “acting erratic, lying on the ground, damaging parked vehicles, a caller.” K was attempting to enter the front yard and was chasing people into the area. “
A man walking with his dog was attacked by the man, Holmes said, with deep cuts on his head and both hands. His dog was bitten in the shoulder. Both the woman and the dog are stable, Holmes said, but their exact position was not clear.
Holmes said that upon arriving at the former Brooklyn scene, officers charged the man “immediately”, ignoring orders to drop the blade. An officer fired a single bullet that hit the man’s chest. The man was declared dead in the hospital. His name was not immediately released.
Officers were not seriously injured, Holmes said. An investigation is underway.
