MONTPELIER, VT ((AP) – Vermont The Statehouse was quiet on Wednesday as police guarded against political violence with automatic weapons.
Earlier this month, the FBI warned that the capitals of all 50 states could become targets of political extremists to coincide with the inauguration of President Joe Biden. Police were also at the Statehouse on Sunday, but there was no problem.
On Tuesday, Gov. Phil Scott said he was unaware of any particular threat to the Statehouse, but police were monitoring for possible violence.
