Washington (AP) – NBA Scoring leader Bradley Beal will be out of a game to rest for the first time this season, out of Washington’s matchup with the New York Knicks on Friday.

Beal averages 32.8 points and 35.3 minutes per game for Washington (6-16), one of the league’s worst teams. Wizards’ ongoing struggles have given rise to constant rumors that Beal will be traded.

Biel missed this season last season as the Miami Heat suffered a loss on January 9 due to the league’s COVID-19 protocol.

Washington’s other starting guard, Russell Westbrook – who was acquired in a trade with Houston prior to the season – has missed seven games this season for rest or due to injury.
