INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Latest to last four (all times EDT):

Jared Butler is more than half of a career side with 17 points, just about one more wearing a Baylor uniform has got nothing more under the net, and Beers at the halftime of his national semifinal Houston 45-20 Let’s lead.

Butler is 6 of 8 from the field, hitting four 3-pointers, to give the Big 12 champion a big throne in his first Final Four appearance since 1950. Butler opened 11 points late in the half while scoring 16–3 which was a torn up game.

Beyond the Arc the Bears are 15 to 8 and shoot 57% against the nation’s second-best scoring defense.

Marcus Sasser is doing his best to retain Houston in the game, hitting five 3-pointers and scoring 17 runs. But all the other cougars from the field are 1 in 15.

It includes All-American guards Quentin Grimes (0-5) and Dejan Jarrough (1-7), the Cougars’ most valuable players in the tournament field.

So far, Marcus Sasser is committing the Houston offense. And the defense is struggling to slow down Baylor.

The Sampoamore guard has 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting, each with a shot from behind the arc. But the rest of the team has started 1 of 11 and have just two points.

Sasser had struggled in the last three tournament games with his shot, making 11 of 43 attempts and 7 of 27 3-pointers.

More cautiously, Houston’s defense that allowed each tournament opponent to shoot Baylor 58% on 61 points or less and 6 to make 12 3-pointers. The Bears led 33-17 near the 5-minute mark of the first half.

The first NCAA tournament semifinal was held in Indianapolis between two Texas teams that have Indiana connections.

Baylor coach Scott Drew graduated from Butler and took coaching at Valparacio. Houston coach Calvin Sampson spent two seasons as the coach of the Indiana Hoziers.

This is only the third time in 2012 the final four of Lewisville and Kentucky have competed with two teams from the same state.

The top-seeded Bears have reached the Final Four for the first time since 1950. The Cougars, Midwest Region Champs, have reached the national semi for the first time since 1984.

Students from six Indiana schools sang the national anthem before Tip.
